A vote against the resolution in the February 25, 2009 referendum is a vote against the project presented to the Moose Jaw City Council in the final report of the Multiplex Steering Committee.

There has been a concerted effort to convince the people of Moose Jaw that voting against the resolution is a vote against any multiplex. This is blatantly untrue.

There is nothing preventing the city, or any organization in it, from producing a reasonable and affordable project the very next day. Applications for the same federal funding can still be submitted.

A vote against the resolution does not mean no to a multiplex, but it could mean a no to:

- a downtown location

- double digit tax increases

- ignoring basic infrastructure

- beginning a project without the funds to complete it

- borrowing a minimum of $32 million for the City's contribution

- borrowing another $6.5 million already planned to cover the fundraising shortfall

- ignoring necessary infrastructure maintenance and repair

- a steering committee with pre-determined objectives and bias

- secret meetings in violation of the City's own procedure bylaw

- circumventing City tendering policies

- secret reports withheld from public scrutiny before being adopted

- inflated property prices purchased with public funds

- no parking

- another unfinished project like the 16th avenue bridge

A vote against the resolution is a vote for responsible and accountable government.
