| More Multiplex Contamination Questions
The City of Moose Jaw will reveal tonight that an additional 4 storage tanks were discovered by the demolition contractor at the multiplex site. This information is only
coming forward after a inquery was filed by Councillor Brian Swanson on October 5th. Swanson wanted to know "what environmental remediation measures had been taken at the
downtown site for the new arena and curling rink." City admistration handed the question off to the project manager.
In response to Swanson's question "what, if any, environmental remediation was not completed," the public is informed that 4 additional tanks were discovered, although the
local rumours placed that number closer to 12. The project manager further assured Councillor Swanson that "Sask Environment was contacted to ensure that proper permits
were in place and that remediation could proceed." This response leaves too much unanswered.
Such as, why is this in response to the question of what was not completed? What type of storage tanks were found? Was there any environmental contamination around those
tanks, and if so, to what extent? Were there any environmental assessments done? Phase 1? Phase 2? Phase 3? Where is the documentation on this remediation? Where
are the reports?
And most importantly of all, why was this information withheld from the public?
